Hi Didier!

May is the month for mothers, museums, and MICHELIN stars!

Mothers and mother figures all around Estonia were honored with spring flowers on May 8th this year. The City of Tallinn celebrated by sponsoring a series of concerts and workshops for families. Then on May 21st, the annual Museum Night attracted visitors to museums all across the country. Museums kept their doors open late and lowered admission fees to one euro. Finally, we end the month of May with the announcement we’ve all been waiting for… MICHELIN stars!

The first Estonian restaurants to be recognized by the MICHELIN Guide were announced on May 25th. It’s an honor to have the Estonian culinary scene receive such prestigious international attention.

We hope you come visit and try out some of these places for yourself!

The following restaurants each received one MICHELIN Star. These restaurants have been recognized for top-quality ingredients and dishes with distinct flavours that are carefully prepared to a consistently high standard.

MICHELIN inspectors also recognized five restaurants in their Bib Gourmand category, which honors good quality, good value cooking.

What kids love most in Estonia

Kids play at Seaplane Harbor Museum

Kids in Estonia and probably everywhere else love hands-on experiences. They want to touch, hear, smell, run, and jump. Estonia is a great destination for learning – and playing! – while on summer break. There are loads of interactive exhibitions and museums all around the country. Kids can learn with Lotte, the puppy dog inventor, in Gadgetville at the Lotte Village Theme Park or fly above the clouds on a hot air balloon with the help of a VR headset at PROTO Invention Factory.

A trip along the Estonian wine route

Man holds up bottle of wine

Estonia might not have the renown of Italy or Spain when it comes to winemaking, but it does have a surprising number of wineries dotting the countryside. A trip around the country gives you an opportunity to taste wine made from local Estonian fruits, berries, and forest products—try the birch sap bubbly! Given Estonia's compact size, it's easy to add a stop at a winery along the way to wherever you're headed.
